Alice Cross has always been a fan of fairy tales, with their helpful animals and motherly trees. Alice is a retired high school English teacher and film studies instructor at Roger Williams University. She has written reviews and interviewed directors for the film quarterly Cineaste and has published personal essays, a gardening blog, and articles about teaching.

Mary Hood Davis loves reading and painting. In her professional life, Mary illustrated and designed greeting cards, giftware items, coloring books and children's books as well as corporate brochures and various non-profit promotional materials.

Alice and Mary both live in Barrington, Rhode Island.
